Design Goals

Portable

All elements of the set should be easy to ski with and transport in a standard backpack.

Traditional

The set should honor the rich history of both cross country skiing and the hot toddy drink.

Vintage

The set should honor the vintage high class aesthetic that comes with skiing.

Initial Sketch Ideation

Explored different forms inspired by classic hot toddy glass shape and bourbon glass shape, different iterations of each piece of the set, and different mechanical integrations.

Further Sketch Refinement

Further iterated on each piece considering ergonomics and materiality constraints.

Generation 1 Model Analysis

Generation 2 Model Analysis

Clay Lid Iterations

Clay lid iterations. explored different lid options and form for flip top. Once form was settled further refinement was made in CAD and 3D prints.

3D Printed Lid Iterations

After exploring clay I moved into 3D modeling based on the form I landed on form the clay. I explored different places for the hinge point and different shapes for flip top. My final lid balances manipulability, constraints with leather tether, and human factors drink-ability.

Detail Callouts

Leather wrap and strap are attached through snap fasteners. Allows for swappable branding opportunities and for the unit to rotate, moving the handle to the side for optimum drinking angle.

Stove vents - Optimum air circulation with vents at top and bottom, only on half of the body allows for adjustments for optimum wind angle.

Pot - Threads and silicone ring are deeper than spout allowing for water tight seal.
